About Lee M. Reichel, M.D.
I’m an orthopedic surgeon in Austin, Texas. I created this site to help people better understand bone health, mobility, fracture prevention, and healthy longevity.
My clinical background
I work full time at Austin Regional Clinic in Austin, Texas. I am also a professor of surgery at the University of Texas at Austin. My fellowship training is in hand and upper extremity surgery, microsurgery, and orthopedic trauma surgery.
In my orthopedic practice, I have seen how closely bone health is tied to mobility, independence, confidence, and quality of life.
Why this site exists
Fragility fractures affect far more than an x-ray. They can change independence, work, family roles, sleep, mobility, and the way a person sees their own body.
My goal is to make bone health easier to understand before it becomes a crisis whenever possible, and to help people who already had a fracture understand why follow-up questions matter.
How I hope this helps
I do not have all the answers. The evidence is still evolving, and personal medical decisions should be made with your own clinician.
My hope is that this site helps you ask better questions about your bones, your fracture risk, your DXA report, and your long-term mobility.
Educational Use Only
This website is educational. It is not a medical practice, telemedicine service, or a substitute for care from your own clinician.
